The Arlington County Board will consider and act on dozens of items at its regular council meeting on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. and its recess meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

The meetings, held in the County Council Chambers on the third floor at 2100 Clarendon Blvd., are open to the public. Visit the county’s website for more information on speaking at a county board meeting.

Comment on agenda items and speak at the meeting

Send written comments on agenda items to the County Board at [email protected]. All comments received by the Commission become part of the public record and are presented to the members of the Commission when they consider the points.

If you wish to comment during the public comment period at the start of the Regular Hearing, or on any item during the Regular Public Hearing, register in advance on the County Council’s website, where you can also find more details on public participation in virtual council meetings, or call the council office at 703-228-3130 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. In accordance with updates to the Board Meeting Procedures adopted in July 2022, registrations for the 8:30 a.m. public comment period must be submitted no later than 8:15 a.m. on the morning of the meeting. As a reminder, only one speaker per topic will be heard.

Saturday, September 17, 2022 – Regular County Council Meeting

West Courthouse, Item No. 44. The Office will consider adoption of the General Special Land Use Plan (GLUP) Study Document for the West Courthouse to guide future redevelopment of the site on the block. of houses bordered by Wilson Boulevard, North Cleveland Street, Clarendon Boulevard and North Danville Street. As part of the study document, Council will review maximum building height guidelines for 12-16 storeys to support mixed-use, medium-density development consistent with the vision of the study and a future GLUP designation. of “medium” Office-Apartment Hotel . Although the county executive recommends a maximum building height of 12 stories, at its July 16, 2022 meeting, council expanded the scope of the announcement to allow for discussion of a maximum building height of 16 stories. Reduced Speed ​​Limit, Item #22. As part of the Consent Agenda, Council will consider an amendment to County Code Chapter 14.2, Section 14.2-21(a) to reduce the speed limit on Fairfax Drive from Arlington Boulevard to North Barton Street (neighborhood road) and 5th Road South from South Carlin Springs Road to the Fairfax County line (minor thoroughfare near a school). Results of studies conducted at the request of Arlington County residents and in accordance with the Department of Environmental Services, Division of Transportation’s Vision Zero Action Plan recommend that the speed limit be reduced from 30 mph to 25 mph on part of Fairfax Drive, and 35 mph to 25 mph on a portion of 5th Road South. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 – County Council Meeting Suspended

The recess meeting will begin at 3 p.m. with reports from the board members and the county executive.

No earlier than 6:30 p.m., Council will hold a public hearing and consider all items withdrawn from the Saturday agenda.
