Ransomware attack cripples online human resources company UKG Kronos

Online human resources management company UKG – Ultimate Kronos Group has acknowledged that its cloud has been hit by a ransomware attack and informed its customers that it could take them several weeks to regain access.

UKG said the attack affected parts of its business hosted in Kronos’ private cloud, including UKG Workforce Central, which allows employers to remotely track attendance, scheduling and payroll processing. The other programs concerned are UKG TeleStaff, Healthcare Extensions and Banking Scheduling Solutions.

The company said programs not hosted in the private cloud, including UKG Pro, UKG Ready, UKG Dimensions or any other UKG product or solution, do not appear to be affected by the attack.

“As it may take up to several weeks to restore system availability, we strongly recommend that you evaluate and implement other business continuity protocols related to affected UKG solutions,†wrote Bob Hughes. , executive vice president of UKG.

Some of the company’s most prominent clients include Tesla, Marriott, Aramark, and Sony Music. According to a UKG press release, NJ Transit started using UKG Dimensions in October 2020.

Several customers in comments to the company’s release expressed disappointment with the company’s lack of communication. One pointed out that the company had suggested customers use their business continuity plans, but they didn’t.
