A boarding school LUDGERSHALL has launched a virtual tour on its new website to show prospective students and their parents what boarding school life is really like.
Wellington Academy is one of half a dozen boarding houses in the country to have been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. Ofsted found in its last inspection that it provided ‘highly efficient services which consistently exceed standards of good. School actions contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people.
Ofsted has found that students in residence at Wellington Academy “are making exceptional progress both academically and personally. They develop confidence and skills that are important to progress in chosen career paths and mentoring programs. »

More than four out of five boarding students go on to college from Wellington Academy.
Wellington Academy boarding director Matt Price said the new website with its virtual tour helps bring the experience of being a boarder to life at the school, helping prospective students and their families to see what life is like outside of the school day.
“While we love Harry Potter, we’re about as far away from the Harry Potter stereotype of a boarding house as you can get,” Mr Price said.
“Ours is a very gentle family-style environment, with very modern facilities, where we focus on the needs, preferences, talents and interests of each student.
“We aim to make boarding school as close to home as possible and to provide a happy and safe environment, to allow each student to grow at their own pace in a place where respect and consideration for all is held to the highest valued.”

The boarding house is purpose built and is on the academy campus. It offers rooms for boys and girls in two separate wings. About half of the students who embark are from military families who want to provide a stable and nurturing environment for their children while they serve overseas.
Students can choose from a wide range of clubs and activities, and many develop new skills and interests in areas they had never considered before. Boarders from Year 9 are encouraged to get involved in the school’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and/or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Aspiring comedians enjoy the academy’s purpose-built theater and studio space, and many students take part in regular musical and artistic productions.
