Lanarkshire Council receives planning application to extend Clydesdale Hotel

A planning application has been made to develop six tourist pods on the grounds of a luxury hotel in Clydesdale.

A planning application was received by South Lanarkshire Council on March 29 to create six fully-equipped wam wig-style modules on the grounds of Cornhill House Hotel in Biggar.

The applicant proposes to install the modules as additional accommodation for the hotel. Each will have their own toilets and showers and will have an access path to the main hotel.

The location of the pods should be to the north of the hotel in a secluded section of the land and will face the River Clyde.

Access to the pods is via the main entrance road to the hotel building, there are existing pods and the arrangement for others will remain the same – guests will check in at the hotel reception and will have access to accommodation.

The wigwam modules that currently sit on the hotel grounds have been well received by hotel guests and the new ones will provide additional accommodation while enhancing future hotel operations.

The standard consultation for the plans began on April 7 and will end on April 21.

The deadline to determine the proposal is June 6.
